Where data lives
Contract content, account details, and signing history are stored in a managed Postgres database. Uploaded business logos use managed file storage.
Who can access it
Your workspace requires your account and contract access is scoped to you. Anyone with a signing link can view the attached agreement, so share it only with the intended recipient.
Private signing links
Each signing request gets a unique, unlisted link. It stops accepting signatures after the deadline you set.
Encryption
Signing emails require an HTTPS app address, and Clause connects to its managed database over HTTPS. These transport protections are not end-to-end encryption.
Your control
Delete individual contracts in the app, or delete your account from Security settings. You can also contact support with a privacy request.

What is Clause?

Clause is a web-based contract and electronic-signature product for freelancers and independent businesses. Create, send, sign, and track agreements in one workspace.

Can I download signed contracts?

Yes. You can download a finalized PDF of a signed agreement and its audit trail from your contract workspace.

Are signing links private?

Signing links are unique and unlisted, but anyone with the link can view the attached agreement. Share them only with the intended recipient. A request stops accepting signatures after its deadline.

Can I customise an agreement template?

Yes. Choose a starting point, then edit the business details, client details, scope, payment terms, dates, and every term before sending.

Do recipients need a Clause account to sign?

No. Your client receives a secure signing link and can review and sign the agreement without creating a Clause account.

How does signing request tracking work?

Clause records key moments in one timeline, including when a request is created, sent, opened, signed, or cancelled.

Where are signed agreements stored?

The final document and its delivery history stay with the contract, so you always have one clear record to return to.

Is Clause legal advice?

No. Clause helps you prepare and manage agreements, but you should review and customise every term and get qualified legal advice when you need it.
